Objective #9: Oppression and Discrmination

 

Apply an understanding of the effects of interpersonal, social, and institutional oppression and discrimination in assessing and planning change in service delivery systems an organizations.

Rationale:

 

To illustrate my competence for this objective, I chose a PowerPoint presentation that I completed, along with a partner, in my Junior year as a BSW student. Not only did we work together to create a fantastic and informative presentation, but, through our research, we were able to share with our class some recommendations for working with Muslim clients. I believe this presentation serves as evidence that I am capable of understanding various forms of oppression and discrimination, as well as assessing and planning for the changes that must be made in a collaborative effort to serve this and other populations in a culturally competent manner.

 

Additionally, I have provided a brief paper of the preliminary work on a research project concerning poverty and the differences between the lower and middle classes.
